Most brands pick a fabric weight and move on. We ran six options side by side — 280gsm, 320gsm, 360gsm, 380gsm, 400gsm, and a 400gsm brushed fleece that felt right until it didn't. The 400gsm GOTS-certified French terry from Coelima in Guimarães, Portugal held its shape after a wash cycle, had the right drape at the knee without bunching, and the loop structure on the interior stayed intact at the seam stress points. The 380gsm version was close. We rejected it because it lost 4% loft after one wash in testing. That's not a detail you see on a product page. We're building Drop #1 around this fabric. The waistband will carry the mill name, worker wage tier, GOTS cert number, and GPS coordinates — printed, not embroidered, so nothing gets lost in the wash. $135. Washed Black. Portugal.
